Each month follow-up calls are made to families who have received individual assistance from SDPC staff on health related issues. Families rate the information on partnering with professionals and gaining confidence useful to very useful.
SDPC Helps Thousands Across South Dakota
In 2008-2009 SDPC provided services to more than 10,000 parents through training, individual assistance and presentations. Additional work with professionals/others in training, calls, and presentations totaled 24,000 contacts.
According to phone follow-up surveys, parents find the information from SDPC to be useful and relevant to their child's education planning. One parent shared, "The important information that I learned helped me to avoid a disagreement with the school."
Workshop follow-up surveys indicate that families find the training useful and provides them with information to make decisions about their child's education. "I have had issues with the schools and tell parents that SDPC is the best resource in the state for families," SD parent.
